Violations
Violations Management
HOA Assist allows board members to issue, track, and resolve covenant violations for any lot in the community.
Issuing a violation
- Go to Violations → Issue Violation
- Select the lot number
- Choose the violation type from the list (or enter a custom type)
- Set the cure period in days (per your CC&Rs — typically 7–30 days)
- Add a description of the specific issue
- Click Issue Violation
The violation appears on the resident's portal immediately. An email notification is sent automatically if the resident has an active email on file.
Resolving a violation
Once the homeowner has corrected the issue:
- Go to Violations and find the open violation
- Click Resolve
- Enter a resolution note (optional)
- Click Confirm
The violation status changes to Resolved and moves to the homeowner's violation history.
Escalating a violation
If a violation is not corrected within the cure period:
- Click Escalate on the open violation
- Select escalation type: Warning Letter, Fine, or Legal Referral
- Add notes and confirm
Follow your CC&Rs and state law for escalation procedures. Consult legal counsel before imposing fines or taking enforcement action.
