Violations Management

HOA Assist allows board members to issue, track, and resolve covenant violations for any lot in the community.

Issuing a violation

  1. Go to Violations → Issue Violation
  2. Select the lot number
  3. Choose the violation type from the list (or enter a custom type)
  4. Set the cure period in days (per your CC&Rs — typically 7–30 days)
  5. Add a description of the specific issue
  6. Click Issue Violation

The violation appears on the resident's portal immediately. An email notification is sent automatically if the resident has an active email on file.

Resolving a violation

Once the homeowner has corrected the issue:

  1. Go to Violations and find the open violation
  2. Click Resolve
  3. Enter a resolution note (optional)
  4. Click Confirm

The violation status changes to Resolved and moves to the homeowner's violation history.

Escalating a violation

If a violation is not corrected within the cure period:

  1. Click Escalate on the open violation
  2. Select escalation type: Warning Letter, Fine, or Legal Referral
  3. Add notes and confirm

Follow your CC&Rs and state law for escalation procedures. Consult legal counsel before imposing fines or taking enforcement action.

Go to Reports → Violations to see:
